koenigjohannes - projekt 8

8

One basic idea of this project is having the image of 8 elements. To be less abstract, they might stand for 8 different situations or feelings. At the same time, all 8 elements strongly belong together and this way make up a whole which might stand for an experience or a characteristic of one's life.
An important aspect is of course featuring the technique of sampling. As a rule, I only use 'self-made samples': mostly sounds taped from a range of conventional instruments. These samples are transformed and processed in different ways - resulting in something of an 'image of an image of an image etc.'
I have also tried to show this way of 'imaging' visually on the vinyl's design of this project: It's an image (a photograph) of 8 windows of a building, reflecting 8 windows opposite this building (the "Radisson Hotel Berlin" by the way, which was demolished in 2001). The 8 windows may be seen as an analogy with the 8 tracks on the vinyl - so track names appeared to be obsolete to me. (Berlin 2001)
